Compare the same work, not just the lowest number

Ask for the scope and estimate in writing. Confirm how travel, packing materials, stairs, long carries and any additional services are treated. A quote that excludes something you need is not directly comparable with one that includes it. Keep the estimate and any agreed changes.

Prepare without leaving important work out

If you are doing your own packing, have boxes sealed and labeled before the crew arrives. Clear safe walking paths and arrange parking or elevator access with your property manager. Tell the mover what remains unfinished rather than assuming it will fit into the original quote.

How do the hourly base totals work?

The price is per crew hour, not per individual mover. A 3-mover crew at $142 per hour has a two-hour labor base of $284. Adding the $110 truck and travel fee once gives a $394 two-hour base. This is not a guaranteed final price for every three-mover job.

A larger crew costs more per hour but may suit a larger inventory or more carrying work. Discuss the actual furniture, boxes and access before choosing. Do not compare crew sizes using hourly price alone, and do not assume every move fits the minimum time.

What if my inventory or packing needs change?

Tell the mover when you add furniture, change an address or need packing that was not in the original request. Ask for the scope and price to be reviewed before the added work begins. An estimate based on packed boxes does not describe the same job as one including packing those boxes.
